The Stardust Motel
and Lounge was a 'hotspot' in Southern Maryland during the 50's and early 60's,
when slot machines were legal. Patsy Cline, Gary US Bonds, Kris
Kristofferson, Roy Clark and a slew of other musicians played there.
When the slots were outlawed, the Stardust kept going as a bar and live music
nightspot. It closed in the late 80's and fell into disrepair. It
was razed in 1998.
In 2005,
the motel was also razed to make room for a generic strip mall or townhome
units.
