DIXIE NEAL

Link and Dixie on the road

Dixie Neal came from a musical family - his other brothers were musicians as well.  Alva Lee passed on in the 1950's.  Dixie's younger brother Jack is an original member of Gene Vincent's Bluecaps!

Dixie was the steel player for Lucky Wray and the Palomino Ranch Gang.  Brother Jack recalls that one of Dixie's proudest moments with the Lucky Wray band was traveling to Montgomery Alabama to play at the tribute / memorial show when Hank Williams passed away.

After leaving the Palomino Ranch Gang, Dixie remained in the Virginia area.  He had four kids - Larry, Linda, Dixie Lee and Cindy - as well as five grandkids.

During Dixie's last years he didn't play music, but continued to enjoy listening to it.  He passed away in 1999.

special thanks to Dixie's brother Jack Neal for this information.
